MEET THE STAFF

Independence Foundation, Inc.'s Executive Management Team holds a combined experience of almost 40 years in the human service field. This experiences includes more than 20 years of nursing experience, and 17 years working with community-based developmentally, psychiatrically, and behaviorally challenged youth and adults. The Team's formal education include degrees in Nursing and Law with a specialization of Health Care Law, as well as a graduate degree in Human Services.

LAVON MAGRUDGER

LaVon Magruder, RN, BSN, BL, EJD, has been in the medical field for over 25 years.  She holds degrees in the nursing as well as law. 20+ years of her professional career has been in nursing management, organizational development and compliance.  Ms. Magruder’s professional career has progressed from direct patient care, to providing strong organizational management and leadership skills involving organizational assessment, systems analysis, restructuring and maintenance for organizations challenged to comply with State, Federal and professional practice regulations and standards.  She has successfully obtained licensure for 2 Psychiatric Rehabilitation Programs, including Independence Foundation, Inc., which she currently serves as the Executive Director.

HAKIM ALI

Mr. Ali, MHS, is a professional with more than 20 years of experience in the mental health, human services and behavioral science field. He holds a Master’s Degree in the field. Throughout Mr. Ali’s career, his strength is as a resourceful and team-oriented administrator with more than 20 years progressive experience. Mr. Ali is recognized in the human service field for his exceptional ability to develop, teach and manage human services residential programs, create and implement successful strategies, and form business and community alliances thus protecting the organizational integrity. This skill has led him co-found Independence Foundation, Inc. for which his organizational and management expertise has allowed the organization of  provide quality mental services.

SHAVON S. NEAL

 Shavon holds a Masters Degree in Human Services. She has been active in the field of Human services for a little over 3 years. Shavon's responsibilities consist of supervision of Case Managers as well as manage all documentations, training, and support for clients. Ms. Neal serves is the Program Director of Independence Foundation, Inc.
